Dr. and Mrs. Joseph P. Metoyer, Jr.

Dr. Joseph P. Metoyer, Jr. in the Spring of 1999 was encouraged to plant a church of
diversity in the Santa Monica area. Rev. Keith Magee, Pastor of Trinity Baptist Church of
Santa Monica, and Rev. John Hopkins, Pastor of True Vine Baptist Church of Lynwood,
California along with Dr. Ross Chenot, Church Planting Director of the American Baptist
Churches of the Pacific Southwest affirmed the call to plant a church. As the four broke
bread and prayed together in Santa Monica the Spirit of the Lord began to move.
ACTS A Church That Studies became a Church Plant of the American Baptist Churches
of the Pacific Southwest, with Trinity Baptist Church of Santa Monica as the Mother
Church. Our mission is to provide a new and friendly worship experience with the
intention of reaching out to a multi-cultural community to establish a relationship with
each other and the Lord Jesus Christ. Our purpose is to demonstrate the Love of Jesus
Christ to those who are not actively involved in Church. The Bible commands believers
not just to verbalize the love of God, but to demonstrate this love through good deeds
{Life-style} (Gal. 6:10; 1 John 3:17-18;).
ACTS A Church That Studies is relational, relevant and real! We are a thriving
community of faith ministering to the hurts and hopes of the people of our community.
